This years event was held in Newcastle, NSW. A long way for our young golfers to travel from SA. Two of our Juniors from the southeast were selected in this years team. They were Mitchell Handford from Mt Burr PS and Luke Sandford from Bordertown AS. Challenging weather conditions and a daunting field of players were too much for the SA team this time, however, Mitchell put his head down and finished 4th overall in the individual stakes with two very impressive rounds of net 69 and 71. Good Result Mitchell.
Millicent Junior golfer and Mt Burr Primary student Mitchell Handford will head to Newcastle, NSW next week to compete at the School Sport Australia 12 and under Golf Championships, 1-5 November. Mitchell, along with 10 other young South Australians, was selected for the team at the September SAPSASA finals in Adelaide. This is the first major tournament for most of the team members and we wish them all the best in Newcastle. What a great experience to represent your state. Good hitting Mitchell.
