Millicent Golf Club Women’s Results Wednesday 31.10.18

Once again some fantastic scores were returned at the Millicent Golf Club on Wednesday, when 18 Women played a Par Round.
Helen Chilton amassed an incredible 4 up to win the A Grade Competition from Sue Agnew who followed closely behind with 3 up and Alex Lambert coming in third with 2 up.
Julie McKenzie and Michele Smith both came in 1 up, Julie winning the countback from Michele to win the B Grade competition. Glenis Skeer, who was all square was in third place.
There were only two competitors in the C Grade and it was Sue Ireland who had the winning score with 1 up from Barbara Sapiatzer.
The nine hole competition was played on the back nine and this was won by Helen Chilton with 3 up.
Nearest to Pin on the Par 3, 3rd hole was Sue Agnew, while no one hit the 13th green. The C Grade 2nd Shot to the 17th was not won either.
Next Wednesday, the AGM of the Ladies will be held at the Clubhouse, commencing at 9.30am, this will be followed by a nine hole Ambrose Competition, Presentation of Trophies for the Winter Season and Afternoon Tea.

Millicent Golf Club Results – Thursday 25th & Saturday 27th October

The
immaculate presentation of the course and brilliant weather conditions
have allowed some fantastic scores to be returned at the Millicent Golf
Club.
On Thursday, there were 21 men who played a Stableford
competition. The nine hole competition was played on the back nine and
Craig Kuiper scored a magnificent 22 points to be declared the winner
from Mick Pedler with 21 points and Brian Duldig in third place on a
countback with 20 points. After 18 holes, Craig and Mick both scored 40
points, however, Craig’s 22 points on the back nine enabled him to win
the countback from Mick, third place was Andy Varcoe with 39 points.

There was no one who hit the green on the 5th hole for the Nearest to Pin Prize.
Saturday’s fine weather attracted 29 men and 6 ladies, all of whom played a Stableford Competition.
Greg
Cook’s brilliant score of 42 points enabled him to win the A Grade
Competition from Spike Warren and John Reynolds, both with 40 points,
Spike winning the countback for second place.

The B Grade was
won by Michael McRostie, scoring a magnificent 42 points. Trevor
Hutchesson and Trevor Atkinson both scored 40 points, Trevor Hutchesson
having the better back nine to win the countback from Trevor Atkinson
for second place.

Kathy Sporer scored 38 points to win the Ladies competition from Mary Winser who had 34 points.
Nearest to Pin on the 3rd hole was Kathy Sporer, 5th – Ben Golding, 13th – Graham Warren and 17th – John Reynolds.

to Pin – Second shot on the 18th for the A Grade was Andy Varcoe and
Nearest to Pin – Second shot on the 9th for the B Grade was David
Seymour.

Two golf balls each were awarded to Ben Golding,
Trevor Atkinson, John Reynolds and Graham Warren for birdies on the Par 3
Holes.

Next Saturday’s Competition for the Men is Stroke for the Monthly Medal, while the Ladies will play a Stableford round.

Millicent Golf Club Ladies Results 24.10.18

There were 20 Ladies who played a Stroke round at the Millicent Golf Club on Wednesday 24th October. Due to the wet weather last Wednesday, the Final of the Monthly medal was rescheduled and played in conjunction with the competition.
Karen Altschwager continued her recent good form to submit the best score of the day, winning the B Grade with a nett 72 and also being awarded the IGA Supermarket Voucher. Mardi Sunderland was the runner up with a nett 73 and Michele Smith came in third with a nett 74.
Alex Lambert won the A Grade with a nett 73, one stroke in front of Helen Chilton and Lana Barlow, both with nett 74, Helen winning the countback for second place from Lana.
Sue Ireland was the winner of the C Grade with a nett 78, which could have been a whole lot better, the 16th bunker being the cause of Sue running up a huge score on that hole. Pam Packer was runner up with nett 80 and Barbara Sapiatzer was third with nett 82.
Sue Ireland also won the nine hole competition with a nett 33.
Nearest to Pin for two on the 5th Hole for the C Grade was won by Pam Packer and Kathy Sporer won the Nearest to Pin on the 13th Hole.
Next Wednesday’s competition is a Par round, while the following week, November 7th, the AGM will be held at the Clubhouse at 9.30 am. This will be followed by a 9 Hole Ambrose Competition and Presentation of the Season’s trophies.

Millicent Golf Club

The week began at the Millicent Golf Club with the coring of the Greens, however this procedure was interrupted by the rain and only the front nine holes was available to play on Wednesday and Thursday.
Some of the Ladies arrived at the Club on Wednesday, very optimistic, but due to the persistent light rain, they opted not to play. The Competition on Wednesday 24th October will be Stroke round, and the Monthly Medal final, the Monthly Medallists for the year playing off for the title.

14 Men played on Thursday and played the front nine twice. Trevor Hutchesson scored 20 points to win the Nine Hole Competition from Terry Chant on 19 points. Terry Chant was the most consistent on the day, scoring 37 points to win the 18 hole Competition, runner up was Jamie Allen who scored 35 points.
On Saturday there were 26 men and 6 ladies who played a Stableford Competition.
Ben Young returned to the Golf Course after an extended break, honouring his football umpiring commitments, and submitted the best score of the day with 41 points to convincingly win the B Grade from Chris Bailey on 36 points and Junior golfer, Liam Chant on 35 points.
Phil Hunter won the countback from Graham Warren, both on 37 points, to win the A Grade, and Ben Golding was in third place with 35 points.
Nearest to Pin winners were Paul Whitford on the 3rd and 17th, Trevor Atkinson on the 5th and Matt Warren on the 13th.
Nearest to the Pin for two on the 18th Hole for the A Grade was Ian Greenwood and no one from the B Grade hit the green for two on the 9th Hole.
Ian Greenwood was the only player to have a birdie on the Par 3 holes and he was awarded four golf balls.
In the Ladies Competition, it was Sue Agnew with 32 points, who had a win over Val Williams with 31 points.
Next Saturday’s competition for both Men and Ladies is Stableford and it is the first round of the Wimberina Trophy for the Men

Millicent Golf Club

On Thursday 11th October, 19 Men played a Stableford Competition at the Millicent Golf Club.
Excellent scores were the order of the day, with the Nine Hole Competition being played on the back nine and Bruce Packer winning with 22 points, one better than Graham Sunderland who was in second place with 21 and Brian Thomson coming in third with 20 points.
Bruce proved to be the most consistent on the day, finishing with 41 points to win the 18 Hole Competition as well. Graham Warren’s 40 points earned him second place and Graham Sunderland came in third with 39 points.
Terry Chant was Nearest to the Pin on the Par 3, 5th hole.
On Saturday, a field of 28 men played a Stableford Competition. Scores were not as good as Thursday’s competitors, even though conditions were ideal for golf.
Matt Warren came in as the winner of the A Grade with 37 points, surviving the countback over Owen Merrett also on 37. Alan Schultz was in third place with 36 points.
Brian Thomson once again featured in the winner’s circle with 36 points to win the B Grade from Mick Pedler and David Seymour, both on 33 points, Mick winning the countback for second place.

Birdies on the Par 3 holes were achieved by Phil Hunter, Alan Schultz and Bill Mullan, all being awarded two golf balls each.
On Sunday, the annual OP Williams Mixed Pinehurst Foursomes was held. The late Owen P Williams who is a Life Member of the Millicent Golf Club initiated this event more than 50 years ago. Even though the format has changed in recent years, it is still a great social day and enjoyed by those who participate. Since Owen’s passing, his family has continued to sponsor the event in his memory.
Helen Chilton and Peter Burchard had the best score of the day with a nett 65 1/2. Runners up were Janet Watson and Ian Greenwood with nett 68 and in third place was Val Williams and Mick Pedler with nett 69.
It is believed that a “record” was broken at the Millicent Golf Club on Sunday, with last year’s winners amassing an unbelievable 17 strokes on the 6th hole after having 13 shots out of the bunker, the remainder of their round was very respectable.
Next Saturday’s Competition for both Men and Ladies is Stableford.
