From the bunker report from 27 July 2019
Saturday 27 July 2019 will always be a day Millicent Golf Club Member Andy Varcoe remembers as he had a hole in one on the par 3 Third which was around a 145 meter shot just to even reach the green. Andy’s hole in was even more remarkable due to the fact this was his fourth Hole in one on the Course and it means he has now had a hole in one on each of the four Par Three’s at the Millicent Course. Andy’s First hole in one come back in 2008 with a ace on the tricky 13th then in 2017 he actually had two, one on the 5th and one on the long and uncompressing 17th. Records will need to be checked during the week to see if anyone else at the club has got hole in one’s on all par three’s at the Millicent Golf Club since records started to be kept. Andy’s playing partners enjoyed the shot just as much as Andy did and they also enjoyed the refreshments afterwards as well. Well done to Andy you have achieved something some golfers will never do and to have done this four times on tricky par three’s is simply remarkable.
Now let’s focus on the other not so flukey golfers. 25 members took cards out in the Saturday Stableford event with the winner of the A Grade being Owen Merrett with a superb 41 points from the hole in one expert Andy Varcoe on 37 points. Club Captain Trevor Atkinson claimed the B Grade honors with a good round of 38 points from club life member in Graham “Arch” Sunderland on 36 points. The ball rundown winners were Martin Cameron on 37 points, Glen Tilley on 36 points and local Business Owner Mark Pilmore on 35 points. Nearest to pin winners Andrew Varcoe for a sensation ace on the Third, Martin Cameron on the Fifth, Trevor Atkinson on 13th and Alan Schultz used all his might to claim the 17th. Trevor Atkinson claimed the only birdie for the day and that was on the 13th.
Thursday’s Stableford round was played in very pleasant conditions and 21 players took cards out but it was Dave Seymour claimed the honors with 37 stableford points winning on a countback from Matt Warren also on 37 points, Andrew Ferguson snuck in to fill third placing on 36points. Scott Packer claimed nearest to pin on the fifth. Matt Warren, Viv Bennison, Phil Hunter, Brian Duldig all birdies as well.
Don’t forget we have Stock agents and Farmers day on tomorrow commencing at around 10.00am and if your not doing anything the club would be happy to get some volunteers out there. Millicent Open is on August 25 as well.
