Tony Bowering proved to be the most consistent of all the Men who played a Stableford competition at the Millicent Golf Club on Thursday. Tony scored 20 points on the front nine to win the Nine Hole Competition from Michael McRostie who had 19 points.
Tony then scored another 20 points on the back nine to be the overall winner on the day with 40 points.
Vyv Bennison was a close second with 38 points, followed by Allan Schultz on 36 points, claiming the countback for third place from Michael McRostie, also on 36 points.
Nearest to the Pin on the Par 3, 5th hole was Phil Hunter, while Andy Varcoe claimed the prize for his birdie on the Par 3, 13th hole.
After some welcome rain overnight, Saturday’s competitors hit off in windy conditions, the Men playing a Stroke round and the Women playing a Stableford Competition.
Graham Warren blitzed the field with his nett 68 to win the A Grade from Andy Varcoe and Owen Merrett, both with nett 70, Andy winning the countback for second place.
Jim Hyland’s nett 71 was the best score for the B Grade, he was followed by David Seymour with nett 72, then Ron Hateley, nett 74.
The Ball winners were Martin Cameron, nett 72 and Terry Chant, nett 74.
Karen Altschwager led the Ladies with 33 Stableford points, Kathy Sporer came in second with 30 points.
The Nearest to Pin Prizes on the Par 3 Holes were won by Martin Cameron on the 3rd and 5th holes, while Ian Greenwood won the 13th and Scott Packer the 17th.
Birdies on the Par 3 Holes were achieved by Ian Greenwood, Jim Hyland, Martin Cameron and Herman Vanderheul.
