Millicent Golf Club Ladies Results Wednesday 19th September

The Semi Finals of the Club and B Grade Championships were held at the Millicent Golf Club on Wednesday 19th September.
Contesting the Club Championship, Lana Barlow defeated Helen Chilton 3/1 and in a tight tussle, Kirsty Bailey defeated Sue Agnew on the 20th hole.
The B Grade matches were won by Janet Watson from Julie McKenzie 5/4 and Bronwyn Clarke from Glenis Skeer 3/2.

Whilst the Semi Finals were being played, seven ladies played a Stableford Competition on the Short Course, hitting off the Orange Tees.
Leonie Williams was the runaway winner with 51 points, runner up was Sue Ireland with 40 points and Mary Pettman came in third with 37 points.
Nearest to the Pin on the 5th Hole was Leonie Williams, Sue Ireland was nearest to the Pin for 2 on the 17th hole and she also scored a birdie on the 16th Hole.
Next Wednesday the Finals of the Club and Grade Championships will be contested over 36 holes. The Club Championship will be between Lana Barlow and current Champion, Kirsty Bailey, this will be followed by the B Grade match, where Bronwyn Clarke will play Janet Watson.
The C Grade match will be played over 18 holes and will be contested by Pam Packer and Sue Ireland.
After play, a Champagne and Sherry Party will be held, followed by Presentations and Dinner. All ladies are invited to dress to the theme of Op Shop Glamour for the occasion.

Millicent Golf Club Ladies Results 12.9.18

The Quarter Finals of the Club and Grade Championships were conducted at the Millicent Golf Club on Wednesday 12th September. Lana Barlow, the top qualifier, defeated Mardi Sunderland 5/4, Helen Chilton defeated Kathy Sporer 4/3, Sue Agnew defeated Lyn Watson 4/2 and the current Club Champion, Kirsty Bailey defeated her daughter, Alex Lambert 4/3.
In the B Grade, first and second qualifiers, Bronwyn Clarke and Julie McKenzie had a bye, while Glenis Skeer defeated Carmel Cory 4/2 and Janet Watson had a convincing win over Michele Smith 7/6.
Nine other ladies played a Stableford Competition on the Short Course from the Orange markers. Bronwyn Clarke survived the countback to win from Mary Winser, both on 39 points, while Mary Pettman came in third with 36 points. Bronwyn also won the nine hole competition with 21 points.
Josie Davies, who only commenced playing golf this year, was nearest to the pin on the 5th hole and sunk her putt for a birdie 2.
Sue Ireland was nearest to pin for two on the 17th hole.
Next Wednesday, the Semi Finals of the Club and Grade Championships will be played. Club Champion contestants, Lana Barlow and Helen Chilton hit off at 9.15am, followed by Sue Agnew and Kirsty Bailey at 9.25am.
The B Grade matches will be between Bronwyn Clarke and Glenis Skeer at 9.35am and Julie McKenzie and Janet Watson at 9.45am.
All other players are invited to play a Stableford Competition, once again hitting off the Orange Markers at 10.00am after the Championship matches.

Millicent Golf Club Men’s Results Thursday 6.9.18 and Saturday 8.9.18

Thursday’s Competition was Stableford and 15 Men took out cards.
The 9 hole Competition winner was David Seymour who blitzed the field with 22 points. Next in line were Graham “Spike” Warren and Brian Thomson who both scored great scores of 19 points, “Spike” winning the countback for second place over Thomo.
David Seymour was the overall winner after 18 Holes with 40 points, winning a countback from Tony Bowering, also on 40 points. Matt Warren came in third with 39 points.
Nearest to Pin on the 5th hole was Tony Bowering.
A small field of 21 men played a Stableford Competition on Saturday 8th September.
Paul Whitford is continuing his great form, to win the A Grade Competition with 39 points from Vyv Bennison and Greg Cook, both on 36 points, Vyv winning the countback for second place.
The B Grade winner was Men’s Captain, Trevor Atkinson who won the countback from David Seymour, both with 37 points, Lyal “Spinner” MacGregor coming in third place with 36 points.
Nearest to Pin on the 3rd was Andy Varcoe, 5th – Justyn Saint, 13th – Bruce Packer and 17th was Mark Pilmore.
Paul Whitford achieved two birdies on the Par 3 Holes, while Justyn Saint, Graham Sunderland, Bruce Packer, Greg Cook and Shane Stevens all scored one each.
Next Saturday’s competition is Stableford for both Men and Ladies.
Members are reminded that the Tri Challenge between Millicent, Blackwood and Loxton is to be played at Millicent on the Long Weekend, the main competition being contested on Sunday 30th September. All players are asked to indicate their intention to play by placing your name on the sheet at the Clubhouse, or contact the Club.
Dinner will be served at the Club on Sunday evening.

The Match between Lana Barlow and Mardi Sunderland will commence at 9am, followed by Helen Chilton and Kathy Sporer, Sue Agnew and Lyn Watson, then mother and daughter, Kirsty Bailey and Alex Lambert.
The top qualifier for the B Grade was Bronwyn Clarke, followed by Julie McKenzie, Janet Watson, Glenis Skeer, Carmel Cory and Michele Smith
Clarke and McKenzie will have a bye and advance straight to the Semi Finals. The other matches will see Janet Watson play Michele Smith and Glenis Skeer play Carmel Cory.
As there were limited numbers of C Graders to qualify, there will be only a Final which will be played on Wednesday 26th September between Pam Packer and Sue Ireland.
A Stableford competition on the Short Course Orange Tees will be held for all players who are not competing in the Championships.
