Millicent Golf Club Ladies Results Wednesday 29.8.18.

17 Ladies played a Par Competition in fine but windy conditions at the Millicent Golf Club on Wednesday 29th August. There were also 6 Ladies who played a Stableford round on the Short Course from the Orange markers.
Janet Watson returned the best score of the day with 5 up to convincingly win the B Grade Competition. Glenis Skeer was runner up with 2 down, while Michele Smith came in third with 4 down.
Lana Barlow led the A Grade field with 3 down, followed by Alex Lambert 5 down and Mary Winser 6 down.
There were only two players contesting the C Grade, and this was won by Mary Pettman with 4 down from Sue Ireland on 7 down.
The Nine Hole Competition was on the back nine and was won by Janet Watson with 2 up.
The Short Course winner was Nikki Kirkland with 30 points from Anne Bateman and Josie Davies, both on 25 points, with Anne Bateman winning the countback for second place.

Millicent Golf Club – Championships Semi Finals Results

On Sunday 19th August, the Semi Finals of the Club and Grade Championships were decided.
In the first match for the Club Championship, Andy Varcoe and Phil Hunter had a closely fought game, with Varcoe taking the honours over Hunter on the 18th hole. In the other match, Ian Greenwood had a convincing win over John Reynolds 5/3.
The Final over 36 holes between Varcoe and Greenwood will commence at 9am next Sunday, with Varcoe being hopeful of taking out successive titles, on the other hand, Greenwood is playing some great golf at the moment and will put up a great fight.
In the B Grade, Paul Whitford had a win over Andrew Ferguson 3/1 and Jamie Bellinger defeated Mark Pilmore 3/2.
The Final over 36 holes next week will see Paul Whitford take on Jamie Bellinger, commencing at 9.15am.
In the C Grade, David Seymour was victorious over Robert Thompson 3/2 and Scott Lonergan had a win over Jamie Allen, also 3/2.
The C Grade Final between Seymour and Lonergan will be played over 18 holes, commencing at 12 noon.

Due to poor weather conditions, only 10 ladies played a Stableford competition on Wednesday 15th August.
A Secret 9 Hole Competition was played in conjunction with the event.

On Friday 17th August, six Millicent ladies travelled to Bordertown for their Open Day. The format was Pinehurst Foursomes and it was the Mother/Daughter combination of Kirsty Bailey and Alex Lambert who won the off the stick prize with a score of 87.
Kirsty and Alex also won the combined long drive on the 2nd hole, while Kirsty won the long drive on the same hole.
Next Wednesday’s competition is also a Stableford competition.
The Competition for the Men on Thursday was Stableford and this attracted a field of 22.

The competition for men next Saturday is Stableford, while on Sunday, the Finals of the Club and Grade Championships will be held.
Visitors are most welcome to the club to view these matches, the Club and B Grade Championships which will be played over 36 holes and the C Grade over 18 holes.

On Thursday 9th August, 26 men took to the Millicent Golf Course to play a Stableford Competition. Good scores were the order of the day.

Terry Chant scored an eagle 3 on the 10th hole. In doing so, he cleared out the Mac Ford Eagles Nest and took home 28 Golf Balls.

The Quarter Finals of the Club and Grade Championships were held on Sunday 12th August.
At this time, unfortunately, no results of the individual matches have been received however, Andy Varcoe, Phil Hunter, John Reynolds and Ian Greenwood have all advanced to the Semi Finals to compete for the Club Championship.
Paul Whitford, Andrew Ferguson, Mark Pilmore and Jamie Bellinger will play off in the Semi Finals for the B Grade Championship.
All matches will be conducted next Sunday 19th August.

Millicent Golf Club Ladies Results, Wednesday 8.8.18

Fifteen Millicent Ladies welcomed four visitors from Beachport to play a Stableford Competition on Wednesday 8th August.
After the recent heavy rains, the Beachport Golf Course has been quite wet, however, the sandy soil at Millicent allows the water to drain away quickly, consequently, the golfers are to compete in pleasant conditions. Even though having to contend with some strong breeze, it was a great day for golf with no rain.
The best score of the day, once again came from the C Grade, with Debbie Tinknell from Beachport scoring 35 points. Runner up to Debbie was Helen Ferguson with 30 points and in third place was Pam Packer with 28 points.
Helen Chilton was the leader in A Grade with 34 points, one better than Lyn Watson on 33, and Kathy Sporer’s 27 points gained her third place.
Mary Warneke won the B Grade a countback from Mardi Sunderland, both on 32 points and next was Michele Smith with 27 points.
The nine hole Competition was won by Mardi Sunderland with 17 points on a countback from Helen Chilton.
Nearest to Pin, 2nd shot to the 5th hole for the C Grade was Pam Packer, while Lyn Watson won the Nearest to Pin on the 13th.
Birdies were achieved by Helen Chilton on the 3rd hole and Michele Smith on the 13th.
Next Wednesday’s competition is Stableford, 3rd Round of the Olympic Event and Secret 9 Holes.

Millicent Golf Club Men’s Results Thursday 2nd & Saturday 4th August

20 men played a Stableford Competition at Millicent on Thursday 2nd August.
The Nine Hole Competition was on the front nine and it was Phil Thrussell who led the field at the halfway mark with 20 points, followed by Vyv Bennison on 19 and Mark Pilmore winning the countback for third place with 18 points from Trevor Hutchesson.
Trevor proved to be the most consistent player of the day as his 18 points on the back nine, won him the 18 hole competition with a total of 36 points. Mark Pilmore came in second with 35 followed by Brian Duldig on 34.
Ron Hateley was the Nearest to Pin winner on the 5th Hole.
The Monthly Medal was played in conjunction with the Stroke Round on Saturday 4th August, along with the Final Qualifying Round of the Club and Grade Championships.
Although the weather forecast predicted plenty of rain, it did not deter the 25 enthusiastic golfers.
Monthly Medalist was Paul Whitford who scored a nett 70 to win the B Grade Competition, runner up was David Seymour with nett 72 and Graham Sunderland came in third with a nett 74.
Scott Packer was the A Grade Winner with a nett 71. Phil Hunter and Vyv Bennison both scored nett 72’s and it was Phil who won the countback for second place.
David Seymour won the Putting Competition with 27 putts.
Brian Duldig achieved two birdies on the Par 3 Holes while Mark Pilmore and Ian Greenwood scored one each.

Millicent Golf Club Ladies Results 1.8.18

In absolutely brilliant conditions for golf, 21 Ladies converged on the Millicent Golf Course on Wednesday 1st August to compete for the Monthly Medal which was played in conjunction with a Stroke Round. It was also the 5th Qualifying Round of the Club and Grade Championships, 3rd Round of Captain’s Trophy and Putting Competition.
It was the C Grade Ladies who returned the best scores of the day. The ever consistent Pam Packer once again had a great day out and came in with a nett 68, narrowly winning the C Grade competition from Barbara Sapiatzer with a nett 69. Their playing partner, Helen Ferguson came in third with nett 82.
Lana Barlow was the leader in A Grade with nett 71, from Lyn Watson on nett 73, third place was Alex Lambert who survived a countback from her mother Kirsty Bailey, and Mary Winser all with nett 77’s.
After a few weeks off with an injury, Bronwyn Clarke returned to the course to win the B Grade with a nett 73, from Janet Watson, nett 74, and Rosalie Hunt and Val Williams, both with nett 77, Rosalie winning the countback from Val for third place.
Three of the new girls who participated in the Sip n Swing Clinic earlier this year, played a 9 Hole Competition on the Short Course from the Orange Tees. Sharne Peacock celebrated her first win with a nett 48, one stroke better than Nikki Kirkland who came in second with a nett 49, and then Josie Davies with 59 nett.
The 9 Hole Competition was on the back nine and it was won by Lana Barlow with nett 33.
The Monthly Medalist was Pam Packer and this earned her the IGA Supermarket Voucher.
