PRETTY WINS MONTHLY MEDAL

This Sunday 12th November is the People’s choice credit union/Rexel electrical sporting club’s challenge 4 ball Ambrose competition, the event is opened to all golfers and non-golfers, male or female, you just need a team of 4 players and have fun. The cost is $30 per player or $120 per team including a BBQ lunch, start time is 10.30am for registration, get your teams together for a great day out. Last Thursday was a stable ford competition played in good conditions for golf, so as expected good numbers greeted the starter and it was the inform Viv Bennison who got off to a great start winning the front 9 hole competition in a count back with 19 points, Mick Pedler and Brian Duldig had to settle for second and third respectively also finishing with 19 points. On the turn for home, it was a tight tussle with many players in contention it was Bennison who showed all his class to blow away the field winning with 38 points, second and third was close with Keith Thrussell, Pedler, Duldig and Dave Seymour all finishing with 36 points. Arch Sunderland got something out of the day winning the nearest to the pin on the par 3, 5th hole. Saturday was the Monthly medal and good numbers turned out to compete in a stroke round plus a putting competition. The weather was perfect and the golf course was in fantastic condition so it was great to see Mark Pretty shoot 72 off the stick to win the monthly medal and the A-grade with a score of net 70, Philip Hunter was second with net 72 while Brian Duldig finished in third with net 73. In the B-grade it was Peter Burchard winning with net 73, Arch Sunderland grabbed second with net 75 and Trevor Atkinson finished in third with net 76. In the C-grade Trevor Atkinson won the day with net 77, Bruce Packer finished second with net 83 while Jim Hyland grabbed third with net 85. Nearest to the pin awards went to Burchard on the 3rd, Atkinson on the 5th, Pretty on the 13th, and the 17th was left free, all three players made their birdie putts and along with Andrew Ferguson won 2 golf balls each, Scott Lonergan was closest for 2 shots on the 9th green while Pretty capped off a great day out winning the closest for 2 shots on the 18th green. Ian Greenwood won the putting competition with 28 putts. Next week’s events starts off this Sunday with the 4 ball Ambrose competition, Thursday is a stable ford competition playing for points in the Masters trophy while Saturday is a stroke round playing for the IGA supermarket trophy.
