Winter has come very quickly out at the Millicent golf course, it only feels like two weeks ago we were playing in warm 25deg days, Now that the temperature has dropped and the annoying drizzle and rain has started, scoring is going to get difficult with the heavy air and more layers of clothing to try and keep warm and dry, but that’s golf!!!.
Only a small field took to the links last Thursday to compete in a stable ford competition to go towards the Masters trophy, and it was Mark Pilmore who jumped out of the blocks early to put the pressure on the rest of the field winning the front 9 hole competition with 20 points. Phil “Meggsy” Hunter was doing all the chasing finishing in second spot with 17 points while Andy Patterson, Dave Seymour and Paul “the package” Whitford had to be separated with a count back with 16 points. Saturday was a stable ford competition played in cool damp conditions in the morning, giving the afternoon golfers the best of the conditions and it was Owen Merrett making the most of the better conditions in the afternoon to win the A-grade with 37 points from Mark Pilmore finishing in second spot winning a count back from fellow playing partners Ben Golding and Andy Varcoe all with 35 points.
