20/10/16 – 22/10/16
With the weather finally on the improve, the numbers in the fields last week were also on the improve, as was the scoring as everybody starts to thaw out and loose a few layers of clothing, it was great to finally feel a bit of warmth on the back as you stride up the fairways. Obviously Matt Osmond and Geoff Cameron enjoyed the warmer weather as both players shot 40 stable ford points in the 2 weekly competitions last week.
Good numbers took to the course for last Thursdays Stable ford competition and it was Matt Osmond who got off to a flyer, winning the front 9 hole competition with 19 points, it was a three way tie for second as Mark Pilmore got the nod in a count back from Mick Pedler in third and the unlucky Andrew Ferguson missed out on the placing’s, as all three players finished with 18 points. It was all the Ossie show on the Back 9 holes as Osmond played some fantastic golf to win the 18 hole competition and the day to finish with 40 points, Mick Pedler got his revenge on the back 9 holes to finish in second spot knocking off Pilmore in a count back who finished in third spot as both players finished with 37 points. The nearest to the pin award went to Andrew Ferguson who played a fine shot to be close on the par 3, 5th hole.
Saturday was also a nice fine warm day and good numbers took to the course to play in the stable ford competition and it was a close finish in the A-grade with a three way tie as Greg Cook got the nod in the count back to win from Owen Merrett in second and Mark Pilmore finishing in third spot as all three players finished with 36 points. Geoff Cameron had a big day out to win the B-grade and the day with a very impressive 40 points, Ben Young also played well to finish in second spot with 37 points, while Scott Lonergan grabbed third spot finishing with 35 points. Justin Saint also had a good day out to win the C-grade with 38 points from Michael McRostie in second spot finishing with 37 points and Jim Hyland grabbed third spot with 28 points. Nearest to the pin awards for the day went to Matt Warren on the 3rd, Cameron was close on the 5th, John Reynolds found some form to hit the 13th, while nobody could hit the 17th green. Michael McRostie was the closest in the C-grade on the 9th green for his 3rd shot, while Matt Warren was closest for 2 shots on the 18th, Greg Cook was the only player to grab a birdie on the par threes for the day and wins himself 3 balls.
