Our Open Day was held Tuesday Sept 6th, which was sunny warm and without wind. Our course is springing to life, the fairways great to play off, the greens becoming fast and true. Many volunteer hours of cooking and preparation for the 50 players from ten local clubs, were very much appreciated. KCA Australia provided financial sponsorship, DiGiorgio wines provided substantial numbers of premium wines for prizes, and Nathan Chapple Cabinet making sponsored a Hole In One completion on the 13th hole. We are truly grateful for such support and thank them.
We had 3 grades, A and B playing stroke, C grade playing stableford. Other events were a teams event, nearest the pin, and long drives. Only the C grade bothered the greens, the long drives were impressive. Considering the great conditions and lack of wind, the scores reflected the strength of our course, of the 50 players only one played to her handicap. However, the overwhelming fun and comraderie is the soul of these Open Days which are held across the District. Travelling from Bordertown for a game of golf is truly in the spirit of the day especially when only a week before we held a Golf SE District event with the same group.
