Merrett wins A-grade.

28/7/16 – 30/7/16

It was a big day out at the Millicent Golf club last Friday as the Farmers and stock agents golf day finally went ahead, it was a very wise decision to postpone the week before and the cool conditions did not dampen the thirst of the 100 players who took to the course and the winning team shooting 10 under off the stick for the very impressive score of a net 54 to win easy. A big thank you to Owen Merrett and all the volunteers and Sponsors for making the day a great success.
Thursday was a stable ford round played in fine but windy conditions which did not seem to both Terry Chant who jumped out of the blocks early to win the front 9 hole competition with 20 points from Robert Thompson who won a four way count back with 19 points from the unlucky Keith Thrussell in third spot also with 19 points. Chant couldn’t keep his good early form going on the back 9 holes and it was Mark Pilmore who came from the clouds to win the 18 hole competition and the day with 38 points. Thompson kept his good form going to finish second with 37 points and Chant held on for third with 36 points. Nearest to the pin winner on the par 3, 5th hole went to Arch Sunderland.
Saturday was also a stable ford round played in cool windy conditions and it was Owen Merrett backing up from Farmers and stock agents day the day before to win the A-grade and also the best score of the day with 36 points. Greg cook grabbed second spot with 34 points and Craig Kuiper finished in third spot with 30 points. In the B-grade it was Martin Cameron winning a three way count back from Scott Packer in second and Mark Pilmore in third, all finishing with 33 points. Robert Thompson romped in the C-grade with 34 points winning from Peter Bateman with 29 points and Adam Barnes visiting from Mt Gambier golf club got third spot finishing with 28 points. Nearest to the pin awards went to Cook on the 3rd, Thompson won the 5th, Packer hit the 13th, and Cook also won the 17th, nearest for the 3rd shot on the 9th hole for the C-grade when the Thompson while no one hit the 18th green in 2 shots. Craig Kuiper had the only birdie for the day on the par 3’s winning a $5 bar voucher and Pam Packer won the ladies competition with 32 points.
