2/6/16 – 4/6/16
Once again the weather gods have smiled upon us out at the Millicent Golf Club as the weather has been very kind to us for our Thursday and Saturday Competitions which were played in fine conditions both days and with the course in fantastic condition at this time of the year, John Reynolds made the most of that to be the runaway winner of the monthly medal.
Thursdays Stable ford competition was played in fine calm conditions and it was a 2 horse race as Alan Schultz and Phil Hunter jumped out of the blocks early on the front 9 holes to win the 9 hole competition with 19 points. It was Schultz who got the nod in a three way count back from Hunter and Mick Peddler, but it was only Schultz and Hunter who could keep the good form going into the back 9 holes to both finish the day with a very impressive score of 38 points each, as on the front it was Schultz who won the count back and the day, with Hunter in second and Andy Varcoe in third spot with 36 points. Nearest to the pin winner on the par 3, 5th hole went to Arch Sunderland with a fine shot but unfortunately missed the birdie putt.
Saturday saw good numbers out on the golf course for the second round of qualifying for the club championships and also the Monthly medal and putting competition and it was John Reynolds who had a day out firing a very impressive 2 over, 74 off the stick to win the monthly medal with a net 68 and Easy winner of the A-grade, Greg Cook played well to finish in second spot with a net 70 and Owen Merrett finished in third spot with a net 74.
